Keto Clam Chowder- Low-Carb and Gluten-Free
There’s nothing more comforting than a bowl of clam chowder. This keto clam chowder will keep you satisfied without breaking your low-carb diet plan. It is a creamy, thick, hearty clam chowder that will have you licking your bowl clean.
This keto clam chowder is very low in carbs but high in fat. It is perfect if you are watching your carb count and want to keep your metabolism in ketosis. However, if you’re watching your fat intake then this is a fair warning that this keto clam chowder is heavy on the fat.
This hearty bowl of clam chowder is loaded with bacon. It uses cauliflower instead of potatoes and it is gluten-free and grain-free.

Ingredients
- 6 slices of bacon, cut into 1-inch pieces
- 1 medium onion, diced
- 2 stalks celery, finely chopped
- 1 (8-ounce) bottle of clam juice
- 3 cups chicken broth
- 1 cauliflower head, cut into bite-size pieces
- 1/2 teaspoon dried dill
- salt and freshly ground black pepper (to taste)
- 8 tablespoons butter
- 2 cups heavy cream
- 16 oz. container of frozen clams, defrosted—undrained
- 1/4 cup finely chopped fresh chives
Optional Thickener:
- 1/3 cup cold chicken broth
- 3/4 teaspoon glucomannan
Instructions
- Over medium heat, add the bacon to a large pot and cook until crispy.
- Stir in the onion and celery and cook until the onion is soft. Add the clam juice, chicken broth, and the cauliflower florets. Add the dried dill, salt, and pepper. Bring to a boil then reduce to simmer and cook until the cauliflower is tender about 10 minutes.
- Add the butter and when it has melted stir in the heavy cream and the clams. Simmer on low for about 5 minutes until the clams are cooked.
- Optional: to thicken the clam chowder, combine the glucomannan and cold chicken broth with a whisk then stir it into the hot chowder.
- Ladle the chowder into bowls and garnish with bacon bits and chives
